Check your Eligibility

These are the criteria for eligibility to Bright Sparks Trust Book Prize University Support. Students who do not meet these criteria will not receive support and should not apply. Bright Sparks Trust is a small voluntary organisation and our policy is to direct our limited funds to the students that we have been supporting at secondary school and who meet these criteria.

  • Former Bright Sparks secondary school scholars.
  • Students who have secured a place studying at one of the following principal Malawi Public Universities:
  • Mzuzu University
  • Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST)
  • Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR)
  • University of Malawi (UNIMA)
  • Chancellor College
  • Kamuzu College of Nursing
  • Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (formerly Polytechnic)
  • College of Medicine
  • Students in receipt of a HESLGB tuition fee loan or grant
  • Students who are not repeating a year
  • Students who have a bank account in their own name
  • Students who are highly motivated and focused on their education

No one shall be discriminated on gender, age, color, ethnicity and religion.

Create an Account and Submit Your Application

Once you have confirmed that you meet the eligibility criteria, checked your university is one of those that we support, and signed up to create your profile, you are ready to submit your application. You will need the following information and you can save your application and return to complete it later if necessary.

  • Contact information and photograph
  • MSCE exam results (and documentation?)
  • University and course acceptance letter
  • HESLGB tuition fee confirmation document
  • Details of bank account in your name (bank, branch, account number, account name)
  • A covering letter to Bright Sparks explaining the reason for your application and your motivation to compete your university degree
